The contemporary urban landscape is where we live. The truss, the trestle, the expansive of steel and concrete. Richard Tetrault; painter, printmaker and muralist is inspired by the pulse of our immediate landscape. A Vancouver based artist, Tetrault has studied in both Vancouver and New York and has had more than thirty solo exhibitions. His work is highly prized by numerous public, corporate and private collections. Recipient of several grants, he spent a five-month residency in Germany in 1993 and was winner of a Canada Council Travel Grant, for an exhibition of paintings in Thailand.

In 1998, Tetrault was artist-coordinator for a large-scale, community based mural project called “Walls of Change”. Designed to bring the Downtown Eastside forward with its uniqueness and social concerns, twenty artists and 10,000 square feet of murals boldly told the story. Featuring both waves of newness and ghosts of the past, the undersides of a city reveal its numerous secrets.
